Meet the Founders
The COVID-19 pandemic profoundly impacted the livelihoods of Rwandans, disrupting income, food security, and social life. Amidst these challenges, Rose and Maurice stepped forward to support their community by leveraging their expertise and passion for agriculture.

A Community Rooted in Agriculture
As the passion for agriculture flows in Rwandan blood, Rose has been farming sweet potatoes, beans, and maize in her backyard for years. During the pandemic, this small-scale farming took on a new significance, as the crops that Rose harvested became a reliable source for her friends and community. This generosity laid the foundation for a more significant endeavor.
“I clearly remember when the pandemic hit, we had a big sweet orange potato farm in our backyard. We would gather potatoes and share them with our neighbors, also feeding locals who lost their jobs. This spirit of community support led to the founding of E&E.”
– Rose, reflecting on the origins of E&E Green Farms
The Seed of An Idea
Maurice, a seasoned agronomist with over 15 years of experience consulting for international NGOs, recognized the transformative potential in Rose’s actions. He proposed a bold idea: to transform this informal support into a structured agribusiness that could serve the community. With Rose’s decade-long management expertise, honed through her Cornell University education, and Maurice’s specialization in agriculture, they launched E&E Green Farms.
A Vision for the Future
Now, E&E Green Farms is officially established with registration from the Rwandan Development Board (RDB) and RICA certification. E&E’s innovative approach focuses on empowering women and youth in agriculture. By partnering with local co-operatives and working with the Government of Rwanda, E&E Green Farms offers training to enhance farmers’ skills, knowledge, and technology use. This support helps farmers improve crop yields, increase income, and boost competitiveness. Moving forward, E&E Green Farms aims to provide high-quality seeds to farmers, create job opportunities for youth and women, and expand market access.
